MLS® CLASS IV THERAPEUTIC LASER

What is MLS class 4 laser therapy?

MLS® - the complete class 4 laser solution, is now present in the most prominent medical centers, clinics, and hospitals in the world.

Its unique technology enables concurrent treatment of pain, inflammation, and swelling quickly whilst eliminating any harmful heating effects.

With a growing body of scientific evidence, laser therapy is an effective add-on treatment for a multitude of conditions – enabling patients to recover and rehabilitate more quickly and with less pain.

What can laser therapy help with?

Laser therapy provides a non-drug alternative for the management of chronic and acute pain. MLS Class 4 laser therapy can be used to reduce pain and inflammation in musculoskeletal disorders and injuries and joint pain. Patients will often see an improvement in the treatment area from the first session. In conditions where muscle spasms and contracture is present, patients will feel the pain relief instantly.

Laser treatment has many indications:

  • Muscle spasm and pain- feel the muscle spasm relax and pain decrease the first treatment.

  • Tissue oedema- often reduces during the first treatment.

  • Inflammation- will start to decrease after the first treatment, reducing inflammatory mediators and tissue damage.

  • Wound healing- Soft tissue repair will be quicker and stronger.

Laser therapy can help with pain by:

• Infrared laser therapy induces neural inhibition in peripheral nerves

• Photoreceptors in mitochondrial membranes of axons, absorb laser energy, resulting in decreased mitochondria membrane permeability.

• This leads to lower levels of ATP within neurons.

• ATP is needed for nerve function including microtubule maintenance and molecular drivers for fast axonal flow.

• The lower ATP levels slow the speed of neural transmission and the amplitude of the action potential resulting in neural inhibition and analgesia.

• Laser irradiation also causes vasodilation in tissue

• improving microcirculation, which in turn improves oxygen supply to hypoxic tissues and removes waste cellular metabolites. This enables the muscles to relax and movement to be quickly restored.

Laser therapy can help with Inflammation by:

• Laser irradiation significantly reduces inflammatory cytokines (interleukin-1B, prostaglandin E2, tissue necrosis factor-alpha)

• thus reducing acute phase protein production and the inflammatory process in the acute and chronic phases.

• Vasodilation and activation of the microcirculation leads to wash-out of pro-inflammatory molecules

What are the benefits of laser therapy?

▪ Non-invasive, no pain, no toxic treatment

▪ Strong anti-inflammatory effect

▪ Minimization of pain, swelling, and complications

▪ Faster recovery time of the structural integrity of the injured region

▪ Improvement in functionality and range of motion

▪ Increased strength, endurance, and performance

▪ Prevention of other injuries

▪ Accelerated Tissue Repair and wounds/ulcers healing

▪ Improved quality of life

▪ Less need for NSAIDs
